Shout Outs!!!

Sometimes we here at WIW get so focused on the brighter side of unemployment that we overlook the soul-crushing lows ("well for starters I've always wanted to work at a supermarket") that can come from joblessness. Now there is a new resource for those feeling impotent unable to find a job, or just unsatisfied with the job they have, and its called Fuck My Life. A wonderful new blog that exposes the pathetic, sad, lives of others in short concise sentences.

Take this for example:

Today, I was giving my boyfriend a blow job, he was twitching and moving around and saying "oh yeah" then he said "take that bitch". I looked up to see he was only excited about how he is domination in Call of Duty 4. FML

and

Today, I realized that I know more about the Transformers history than I do about talking to women. FML

Sure most of them are seventeen year old girls whose mothers call them fat, or fifteen year old boys who get caught masturbating but in between all the teenager angst are some true moments of real humiliation. Just enough so the next you get rejected from a cart job at Costco you can smile and say hey at least I'm not lying in a hospital bed after attempting autofolatio.

While You're Working (Watch This!) vol. I

In the spirit of the unemployed never ending service to the community (Despite never seeing any $$$) I bring you While You're Working's latest ongoing series "While You're Working (Watch This!)" A series that highlights the bizarre, amusing and most importantly the distracting.

Sun Is Shining And The Grass Is Covered In Mud

The view from the window of the working man.

The view from the window of the unemployed .

It truly is a good day to be unemployed. The sky is blue, the weather is warm, and Park Slope is busy with pregnant or post-pregnant woman in Lulu Lemon carrying their newborns in satchels they bought in Ethiopia. While the workers are stuck in a cubicle starring at a four-year-old Dilbert cartoon. The Unemployed lie around cafes, parks, and bus depots basking in the sun's warmth. Truly is a great day to be unemployed.

Unemployment Spawns Creativity

Unemployment is a fickle mistress. It pulls no punches and tells you no lies. A man see his true self in unemployment. All the things you ever say: "If I had more time..." or "If I wasn't so tired I would..." you realize everything you will ever do will happen in unemployment and if it doesn't you never will. If you can't manage to find a spare hour to run on a treadmill when your biggest activity that day is buying a carton of milk you never will.

Me Rockin' out at 11 am on a Tuesday.

If you never start drawing, or playing that guitar when you are unemployed you never will and that's what brings me here. That and a need to demonstrate solidarity for all those unemployed. This blog touches on the finer things in unemployment. The TV On DVD marathons, going to the bathroom with the door open, and obtaining a competitive edge in fantasy sports . This blog will also speak out in defense of the unemployment and all the slights, and common injustices we are faced with in this country so infused with a Protestant work ethic and the spirit of capitalism (I'm looking at you happy hour.)

I hope everyone will enjoy my blog. Whether you're a Fortune 500 CEO scoffing at the pathetic life of the unemployed or a starving Somali boy surfing the web with a green laptop wondering where you are getting your next meal. Employed, unemployed, retired people , students, children, infirmed I hope everyone can find something to love about While You're Working. Whether to laugh at the petty life of the unemployed or feel strength through solidarity. While You're Working will be there for you 24/7.... or at least till I get a job.
